Moving on out

We have fields next to our house that we love walking through. It's such a great place for Asher to run. They all love being pulled through the winter wheat in the wagon.

We were supposed to settle on the new house today and it isn't happening. For a number of reasons we had to push it back until April 16th. We are all really sad and disappointed. We still have to move out of this house this weekend since our renters are coming in on Wednesday. I'm going to take the kids up to Pennsylvania for a few weeks and Nate will stay here. PA friends I will be looking for things to do!!

Today is also sweet Dexter's first Birthday. We had to cancel the party and the easter egg hunt because of the house delay. I feel really sad about that. Our wonderful neighbors are throwing Dex a small party today. I'll post pictures later.

My Birthday

My birthday was last week, and I was surprised by how great of a day it was. I dropped Asher and Piper off at school and came home. I decided to relax and just do some knitting. Nate surprised me and came home at 10:15. He took Dex and I out to an early lunch. It was so nice to just be out with them. I picked the kids up from school and we met Leah and her kids at the park. Nate stayed at home and got to work on baking me this fabulous chocolate cake. When I came home with the kids Nate made dinner and played with them. I stayed in our room and got a nap (best birthday present ever). I also got to catch up on some shows and do more knitting. It was so nice to be able to relax.

Just Curious

A friend of mine has the kids today so I can work on packing and cleaning. We move in about 9 days and I'm feeling pretty good. I started packing a while ago, so I don't have much left. I was a little overzealous in my packing, because Nate keeps having to unpack all the kitchen things I put in boxes (I guess we can't go a month without needing measuring cups).

As I was taking a lunch break today I was looking over my blog stats and was quite surprised to see how many people view my blog each week. It even tells me how many from each country. I would love to find out who is actually visiting this site (think of it as a late Birthday present for me, because I'm sure you all intended to send me something). To give you an extra incentive everyone who leaves a comment before Sunday will be entered into a contest. I'll announce the winner Sunday night, and I promise it will be a very good prize!

Privacy

This morning when I tried to sneak into the bathroom without being noticed:

Piper burst in: "Mommmmmmy" she stops, listens. "Mommmmy" she squeals "YOU GO POTTY", claps, "YEA MOMMY, you get candy".

Ya know what, I will take the candy. It's just been that kind of a morning.

Life with a boy

What is that in the grass?
Hmm let me pick it up and see.
Oh mom, it's just a toad.

Little Red Wagon

The wagon has been quite popular around here lately. It seats two, but the problem is that three people and a dog want to get in. They have figured a way to make it work and much to my surprise there is very little kicking involved.
I usually pull them across the field that is next to our house. Juno usually bails midway through the ride and Asher runs after her.

Piper's Prayer

At dinner last night this was Piper's prayer:

Dear God thank you for the snakes and butts. Amen.

Brothers

I remember when I was pregnant with each kid dreaming about what they would be like. With Piper and Dexter I really envisioned such love between the kids. So far that hasn't happened. Asher and Piper fight all the time. Asher is constantly annoying Piper and in return Pipes screeches about it. Let me tell you it's a blast to witness. I was really hoping when Dex came along Piper would turn into a little mommy and really have an interest in Dex. Once again my expectations were way too high. Asher and Piper basically ignore the little guy. I'm hoping this changes as they get older, or at the very least Piper stops making jungle noises in protest to Asher.
The other day while princess Piper was finally napping I got some shots of the boys. Dex has a cold this week, which is the reason he looks like a zombie in these pictures.
Asher did have fun here, until Dex tried to bite his back. I purposefully didn't include the picture of Asher throwing Dexter off his back.
In case you haven't heard we are moving in three weeks. Our loan finally went through on the new house. I am so so so relieved that we have renters moving in here and we get to move to an amazing place. Asher and Dexter will be sharing a room there.

Glove Puppets

Even though I have neglected posting about our crafting lately we have been keeping up on it. A few weeks ago I watched Jada and Bennett in the morning and we made glove puppets. I found some really cheap gloves at wal-mart and we converted them into bunnies.
I think they are pretty cute!

I haven't gotten to any crafts this week for a few reasons. One is we are packing up the house and I started putting a lot of that stuff away. Two it's really warm out and I prefer to have the kids outside if possible. The third reason is Dex has a bad cold this week and if he is awake he wants to be held. Most of my crafts involve a glue gun and doing that with a wiggly Dexty in my arms may not end so well.

Bath Time

Dexter feels a little neglected in the blogging world. He kindly requested a post just about him and his bath time cuteness. It's hard to turn him down so here you go.
See his open mouth here. This is his I want to bite you face. He bites constantly. His favorite places to bite are my toes, nose, and upper arm.
He is also becoming a chunk-a-lunka. This kid can pack it away. His current favorites are fried rice, chicken nuggets, PB sandwiches, and pancakes.
Dexty you are so cute and sweet. I am still completely in love with you.

Packing

We currently have a lot of boxes around the house. The kids love to play in them.

Poor Juno is usually a casualty of their play.
Dexter wisely refrains from joining in their box play. He knows someone inevitably gets hurt and wants no part of that.

A very late Valentine Post

I can't believe I have neglected the blog for this long. Things have been a little crazy around here. We have been wanting to move into a bigger house for about four years now. We tried to sell this place for a while and that never worked out since the housing market here is doing so terrible. We decided to rent our current house and buy a new one. We found renters (YEA!) and they move in at the beginning of April. Being landlords will be a new adventure for us. We found an amazing house and we are waiting to see if our loan is approved.
I love Valentine's Day. I think it's such a sweet day. We invited over some of our favorite friends for a special lunch. The kids (well mostly I) made them Valentines. They are little pots with some seeds in them. We also made some rings (hershey kisses instead of diamonds).
For the dessert I made heart shaped sugar cookies. I put some pink food coloring in the cool whip. The kids had fun decorating with that and then they put fruit on top.

It's 80 degrees here today so I am going to join Asher in the sunshine outside!
