Hollywood Studios

We spent our last day at Disney in Hollywood Studios. Overall it's geared for older kids, but I'm glad we went. They have an area that's themed after Honey I Shrunk the Kids. It was so much fun, and the kids loved being able to run around and climb on things.
There was a huge rope area that was supposed to mimic a spider web. Asher spent a good forty minutes climbing in it.
Dexter and I just hung around.

These little tree stumps made noise when you stepped on them.

For lunch we went to a sci-fi cafe. The tables were in the shape of cars, which the kids loved.
We got to meet Lightening McQueen and Mater. I'll let you guess Asher's excitement level.
One of the coolest parts of the day was a car stunt show. They had some pretty spectacular sequences. Asher was very impressed by it all.

We are in Charleston today, and tomorrow we head home. We took a carriage ride this morning. I loved it. If we ever had to move I'd love to live down here.

Magic Kingdom

On Tuesday we went to Magic Kingdom. I know a lot of people are skeptical about bringing young kids to Disney World, a lot of our friends are waiting until their kids get older. I am so glad we took our kids now. To them everything was real, and special, and magical.
I actually took Dex on just about every ride. I strapped him to me and we had fun. There was only one ride in magic kingdom that Asher couldn't go on. I took him on Splash Mountain and he loved it. I definitely have some thrill seekers on my hands.

I also opted out of this ride. Dexter has a tendency to spit up a lot and I was afraid what a lot of spinning would do to him.
Watching Piper meet the characters was worth all the money we spent. She would go up and hug them and just bury herself in them.
She didn't want to let go.

I got a little emotional watching her meet Jessie and Woody. They are her favorite characters and she was beyond excited to meet them.
It was such a great day. The crowds weren't bad, so we got to go on just about all the rides. The kids loved every minute of being there.

Florida

The resort we are at is pretty spectacular. When you go in the front gate it is a ten minute drive to get to our place. I have never been on a resort this huge before. They had a crib and a high chair set up for us here.

There is a little screened in porch off of the dining area. The weather is so great here. It's been in the mid 80's. It is definitely having me rethink the whole living in florida thing.

Piper has been sleeping in a bed for the first time. She has done surprisingly well. I guess we will have to move her into a big girl bed when we get back home.

Myrtle Beach

We had such a relaxing time in Myrtle Beach. The weather was in the 70's and the water was still very warm. On our first night there we went on a night walk on the beach. The kids thought that was amazing. They both love being outside when it is dark.
Each morning we went swimming in the pool and the spent the afternoons on the beach.

We arrived in Florida today and will hit Disney tomorrow. The resort we are staying at is incredible. I'll post some pictures of our place tomorrow.

Heading to Myrtle Beach

Before we had kids going on a five hour trip was a piece of cake. It usually took about five hours. These days it's a whole different experience. Instead of listening to a thought provoking debate on NPR we have a Pixar movie on for the kids. We also have to make at least one stop for food (for this trip there were two), and at a minimum of three potty breaks. Even a potty stop takes at least twenty minutes, since I have to combine that with nursing Dexter. Nate used to get extremely annoyed that trips took this long, but now we just enjoy it. At one of the stops there were a lot of tree stumps. We all had fun climbing on them.
 Piper trying to get up.
 I did it!

Fire Pit

A hard part about living away from family is that it's sometimes hard to find someone to watch your kids. It's even harder to say go away for an entire weekend. Last year we started trading off with Dave and Leah for weekends away. We watched their kids last weekend. It was kinda crazy (especially since all the kids minus Dex slept in one room) but the kids had a blast. At the end of the weekend Asher was crying about them going home. He kept saying "I want them to stay for ten weeks". The thing is, I can totally relate to that. I remember being younger and having friends I never got tired of being around. I'm so glad Asher and Piper have those kinds of friendships already.

On Sunday night we got the fire pit out. We roasted hot dogs and made s'mores. The kids love being outside when it's dark and getting to roast food made it even better.

I love Bennett's eyes in this picture. It was really dark and the flash was a bit much.
Dexter just chilled in the bumbo seat. He was entertained watching the craziness of the other kids.
Piper decided she needed to hold onto the giant duck while she ate.

We are on vacation now. We arrived in Myrtle Beach, SC this evening. We went for a night walk on the beach and it was amazing. The water is still really warm here. I'll try to keep updating throughout the next two weeks.

Fall Fun

After the soccer game last week we went up to the Hunt Club Farm. In addition to the petting zoo we went on a hay ride. Seeing Piper with the animals melts my heart every time. She gets so excited when she sees them.

Asher was quite impressive with his chicken catching skills. He had a blast going into the coop and rounding them up.
 This one is my favorite.
Piper was able to catch them as well. She is still learning the concept of gentleness.
 The llamas are quite cute.

Leah and her kids came with us. I'm so glad to have her as a friend.
