Biology
Lilies have always been my favorite flower. The first year we lived here I planted some dark red lilies. Every year more and more came up. Last spring when they sprouted I was very excited to see that some had cross pollinated. I was teaching biology last year and we were learning all about recessive and dominant genes in plants. It's hard to tell just by looking at a plant what type of gene it has. When these plants came up I was able to tell that the dark red was the recessive gene and the orange was dominant. The color on the inside represents the recessive gene when two colors cross pollinate. Asher enjoys smelling the flowers.

Lois
Asher really likes Lois the turtle. Our dog Juno knows Asher's tricks and can run and hide behind the couch. Poor Lois can't go nearly as fast so she ends up playing with Asher all day. Lately I have been finding Lois (who is supposed to be an outside turtle) in the school bus. She is also a frequent flyer in the wheel barrow, and Asher's leggo car. Yesterday I went outside and discovered Asher putting his big boy underpants on Lois. She was not happy and as a result spent the rest of the day buried underground.

Baby Shower
Last weekend I threw (along with two other friends) my friend Sheena a surprise baby shower. She is having her second boy and we wanted to do a shower to make her feel really special. I do not like baby shower games so we did some other things instead. Everyone wore a black dress and we set up a tent in our backyard. Nate and Sheena's husband Austin dressed up in suits and served us all a three course meal. After the meal we tye dyed onsies. It was a blast, and she was totally surprised.
