When I was about eight years old I had a turtle named Spike. We took her on vacation with us one year and she ran away. It was one of my saddest childhood memories. This past Sunday as we were driving home from church we saw a turtle on the road. We rescued him and brought him home. Of course I named him Spike. Yesterday when I came home from lunch Asher looked into the place where we keep Spike and he exclaimed "two Spikes". Indeed there are now two Turtles. We aren't exactly sure where the second came from. Asher named her Lois. The flower box behind Asher in this picture is where they are living.

The zoo...I mean aquarium
Last week we went up to the norfolk zoo. Obviously there are no pictures of that adventure because I left my camera in the car. Asher wasn't too thrilled with the animals, but he was super excited about pushing the stroller around. We got a membership that also included the aquarium on Roanoke Island. We went there on Saturday. Asher had a blast, and spent the entire time looking for Nemo.
Piper spent the day chilling in the carrier.
There was a tank with sting rays. Asher alternated between splashing the water and trying to drink it.
After the aquarium we headed to Elizabethan gardens. It was gorgeous. I once again reminded Nate why a double stroller was a good investment (he still isn't convinced).

Rainy nights
Last week I volunteered to watch some of my friend's kids while they went out. I went into the evening thinking it will be a piece of cake. We'll play outside all night and the kids will be tired and ready for bed by seven. As soon as the kids were dropped off it started raining outside. Plan B was a movie night. That worked well for a while.
Then the boys decided to take turns driving each other into walls.
Eventually the kids ended up in the tub and had fun with the bath crayons.

Easter
I had visions of the kids sitting nicely outside after church so I could get some pictures of them in their Easter outfits. Piper was afraid she was going to get grass stains on her new dress and started crying. Asher thought the solution for that would be to pinch her. After we got changed we headed to the outer banks for the day.
Asher loved being buried in the sand.

Egg Hunt
Today we had an Easter egg hunt at our house. Asher loved it! He had a blast collecting eggs and playing with all the balloonies. He is currently in a sugar induced coma in his crib. We don't keep a lot of sweets at the house, so on days like this I don't mind if he has one or two (who am I kidding 14) brownies.
We had a section for all the crawlers. Piper hung out with her pals on the blanket.

Spring
Piper is taking after her big brother with the love of the outdoors. This morning we headed to the outer banks with some friends. I'm sorry to say I didn't have my camera. When it's just me with two kiddos a camera is an obstacle I'm not willing to tackle. Asher's little friend got a bit wet and had to go without his clothes. Asher was not wet but decided to also take his clothes off. I told him he can get away with it now before all the tourists start coming back. He was in desperate need of a nap when we came home so Pipes and I headed out to play in the yard.
